Why the Census Matters

Every 10 years, the U.S. Census Bureau conducts a nationwide count to determine the number of people living in the United States, and everyone in your household should be included. The Census provides the basis for reapportioning Congressional seats and distributing billions of dollars in federal funding for schools, hospitals, roads, public works and other vital programs in our community.

Participation in the census is the right and responsibility of every Crow Wing County resident.

Important Note

We encourage seasonal residents to fill out their Census form when they arrive back in Crow Wing County versus temporary southern locations.

What to expect

Starting in March, you will get an invitation to respond in the mail.  There are many ways you can participate in the census. In 2020, and for the first time, you can respond to the census online. However, anyone can still complete the census by mail; by phone or; in-person with census workers.
